{"id":10930,"date":"2022-03-21T09:01:50","date_gmt":"2022-03-21T09:01:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aac-europe.org\/2022\/03\/21\/the-aac-will-address-gaps-in-data-collection-for-aquaculture-at-eu-level\/"},"modified":"2022-03-21T09:01:50","modified_gmt":"2022-03-21T09:01:50","slug":"the-aac-will-address-gaps-in-data-collection-for-aquaculture-at-eu-level","status":"publish","type":"news_item","link":"https:\/\/aac-europe.org\/en\/news_item\/the-aac-will-address-gaps-in-data-collection-for-aquaculture-at-eu-level\/","title":{"rendered":"The AAC will address gaps in data collection for aquaculture at EU level"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Aquaculture Advisory Council (AAC) organised a webinar on March 11, 2022 in the presence of Dr Rasmus Nielsen, Chairman of the Economic Working Group for Aquaculture under the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The webinar started by a summary presentation of the STECF 2020 Economic Report of the EU Aquaculture Sector. This report includes an interesting overview on the EU aquaculture sector numbers (15.000 entreprises, 80% of which are micro-enterprises employing less than 10 people, production by species and value\u2026). It also provides interesting insight about different sectors and countries.<\/p>\n<p>However, some shortcomings appeared concerning to the webinar participants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the lack of aquaculture experts in the STECF;<\/li>\n<li>the lack of recent data available, despite the important amount of data requested by the administrations to the aquaculture producers;<\/li>\n<li>the little time allocated for the experts to deal with the data gathered.
