The Aquaculture Advisory Council organises a Workshop at the European Maritime Day 2019
The Aquaculture Advisory Council (AAC) organises a workshop on "Aquaculture and the Social Acceptability Challenge" at the European Maritime Day (EMD), the annual event on blue growth and maritime affairs organised by the European Commission. This year, the EMD will take place in Lisbon.
Several experts on different fields have been invited to lead, together with AAC representatives, the discussions on "Space and environment", "Consumers and products", "Media" and "Animal welfare".

Karmenu Vella, European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries explains the Commission’s support for EU aquaculture and supporting farmers in the water
40 years ago, the famous French Commandant Jacques-Yves Cousteau stated: “We must plan the sea and herd its animals using the sea as farmers instead of hunters.” His vision is now becoming reality: in 2014, for the first time in history, humans consumed more farmed than wild-caught fish.
